Pudge returns! And, you know, other things.

Pudge! Pudge! You’re back, and you’re not wearing the outfit of evil, and we know you’re probably sad that you’re not still in Texas, but you are ALIVE and PLAYING BASEBALL and HERE YOU ARE IN DETROIT and we love you! For real! In fact:

Uh huh, uh huh. Never forget 2004, friends. Never forget.

Anyways, Max was OK, the bullpen behaved themselves (although the Big Potato gave us a bit of a scare), and Ryan Raburn hit a home run for the shock value. Oh, and Magglio Ordonez, fresh off a non-DL rest period for his balky oblique, went 4-for-5 with two doubles. Everyone heaves a sigh of relief. That said, Gerald Laird was 3-for-4, so grain of salt, grain of salt.

The Tigers left a million men on base and still won, because these are the Nationals and Stephen Strasburg does not have to be faced in this series. Thank cats.

This is the time on Sprockets when we get wins in the bank. No time for slackers.

  2. sweet sweet national league. I don’t get as angry as some when we take a break from the regular season and play you… in fact, maybe the tigers would be better as a NL team.

  3. Thank cats is right! I’d love to see Strasburg but not at our expense.

    ps I love this blog!

  4. Well, I love this. Naturally. And I agree that it’s exciting to see him playing for a team we don’t really hate, makes it easier to shower him with post-Tigers love. Of course I wish he was still on the Rangers, if he had to be on a non-Detroit team, because that’s just too perfect, but… oh who am I kidding, I’d love it if he was still on the Tigers.

Can you just imagine how sweet it would be to see him help usher Alex Avila into Major League life? Not to rag on G-Money or anything, but Pudge is Pudge, you know? And isn’t he hitting over .300 right now or something ridiculous like that?? Compare that to the production we’re getting out of our catchers right now… I’m just saying… :P

  5. I still feel cheated that Curtis was on the DL when the Yankees were in town. Although, the thought of Curtis in Pinstripes still makes my heart hurt a bit.

I went to see the Tigers/Nats game on Wednesday night. I neither booed nor cheered Pudge. His presence wasn’t a big deal one way or the other, although I did think it was cool when he was caught stealing.
